Hey, Creators Namaste! I’m your friendly neighbour, Spandana Reddy, and today, I’m going to chat with you about something we all deal with—self-doubt. Ah yes, the sneaky little voice that pops up just when we’re about to hit “post” on that video or share our thoughts with the world. But here’s the thing: we’re not letting it win. Not today, not tomorrow, and definitely not on my watch!
Now, pull up a chair, grab a cup of chai, and let’s have a heart-to-heart about why your voice matters and how we’re going to shut down that inner critic, Telugu-style!
What Exactly is Self-Doubt?
You know that feeling when you’re about to do something awesome, and suddenly, you hear a voice in your head saying, "Who do you think you are?" Yeah, that’s self-doubt! It's like the annoying aunty at a wedding who insists you should be doing something else with your life—as if she knows everything!
Self-doubt shows up in various ways:
"Will anyone care about my content?"
"Am I good enough to share my story?"
"What if people don’t like what I create?"
Girl, I’ve been there. Many, many times. As a woman creator, I’ve had moments where I thought, "Am I really qualified to be teaching people about YouTube growth? What if no one shows up for my webinars?" (True story!) But here’s the thing: every successful creator you know has faced the same struggles. Even me. Even you.
Analogy Time: Think of Self-Doubt as a Nosy Neighbor
Let me give you an analogy. You know that nosy neighbor who’s always peeking through the curtains, commenting on everything you do? Self-doubt is just like that! It’s always watching, ready to make you second-guess yourself. But here’s the trick—just like how you politely smile and wave, but never really stop living your life because of them, you need to do the same with self-doubt.
Smile, wave, and keep creating! Inkem Inkem Inkem Kaavale—You’ve got what it takes, and nothing should stop you from sharing your brilliance.
"Who Am I to Create Content?" – A Question Every Creator Asks
Let me tell you a little secret. Every creator asks this question at some point. Even the biggest YouTubers, podcasters, and influencers out there have wondered if they’re good enough to be in the spotlight. And guess what? The answer is always the same:
You are enough.
I’ll say it louder for the ones in the back: YOU ARE ENOUGH!
Your experiences, your stories, and your unique perspective on life make your content valuable. It doesn’t matter if you’re talking about how to make the perfect dosa or how to master YouTube analytics. You bring something to the table that no one else can—you. And that’s what people connect with.
Just like how every dosa batter is slightly different in each house, every creator’s voice has its own flavor. And trust me, there’s someone out there waiting to taste what you’re cooking!
How to Overcome Self-Doubt and Keep Creating
1. Take Baby Steps
Each time you post something, whether it’s a video, a reel, or a blog, you’re one step closer to your goal. Think of it like climbing Tirupati’s famous steps—one foot in front of the other. Sure, you’ll get tired along the way, and you might question whether you can make it to the top, but the only way to get there is to keep moving.
Remember this: small steps lead to big results.
2. Acknowledge Your Progress
Look back at what you’ve already accomplished. Maybe you started with zero followers, and now you have a few hundred or thousand. Maybe you didn’t know how to edit videos a year ago, and now you’re a whiz with Canva and Instagram Reels. Celebrate those wins, even if they seem small. They’re part of the bigger journey.
3. Focus on Impact, Not Perfection
Here’s another little Telugu proverb for you: "Manchidi chesina vadu, balavanthudu kadhu." (The one who does good is not always the strongest.) It’s not about being perfect or getting everything right all the time. It’s about showing up and making an impact with your words, stories, and creations.
Perfection is overrated, ladies. It’s progress that changes lives, and the more you put yourself out there, the more people you’ll inspire. And that’s what matters.
What Happens When You Push Through the Doubt?
Let me tell you, something amazing happens when you push through self-doubt. Each time you show up, you send a powerful message to the world—and to yourself. You’re telling everyone that you believe in your voice and that what you have to say matters.
Imagine this: every time you hit “post,” you’re paving the way for someone else who is sitting there, feeling just like you did once. They see you and think, "If she can do it, so can I." And suddenly, you’re not just a content creator—you’re a leader, a role model, and a beacon of light for others who are struggling to find their voice.
You can and will make an impact. The more you create, the stronger that impact becomes.
Let’s Face Self-Doubt Together
As your akka (big sister), I’m here to remind you that you are capable of amazing things. The next time self-doubt knocks on your door, remember that it’s just a temporary visitor. You don’t have to let it stay. Every video, every post, every step forward is a victory.
I’m on this journey with you, every step of the way. We’ll face the challenges together, and we’ll keep moving forward. Because if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that you have the power to create something incredible.
